Visual Description :
This coal scuttle looks like a cylindrical can tilted on its side with one end, and half of its side cut out. It is resting on circular base that has a wider diameter at the bottom and becomes smaller towards the top of the base. The base is beveled on the bottom. There is a thick copper handle attached to the top of the scuttle. Inside the scuttle, there is a small comparment in which a small brass-handle shovel sit. The shovel's handle has a design of twisted brass swirls, ending in a rosette.
