Artist Statement : "In preparation of a hunting trip, the hunter would go on a vision quest. He would travel to his village's sacred place and ask for help from all the supernatural spirits. My grandfather, from the west coast on my mother's side, the great shaman, Dr. Billy, was the head of his house, Tsowana, located in Friendly Cove. Our people from the west coast were known as great whale hunters. My Kwakiutl ancestry can be recognized in the design of the whale." - C.H.
