Artist Statement : "In June, 1999, another of our travels took us to Mashantucket, Connecticut where we shared our songs, dances, and legends with the Pequot People. The canoe in this print is carrying the Thunderbird, which is Calvin's crest. The Bear is one of our family crests representing my nephew, Kaleb Child. The Tokwit Boards are the power of our two Tokwit Dancers, Marie Hunt and Gloria (Hunt) Rose. The boards are spirits of the past, brought to life by the Tokwit Dancers." - Calvin Hunt
