Artist Statement :
This design, "Eagle and Wild Woman", was originated from a painting by Henry Hunt on a drum which has been used in Potlatches. The eagle is a family crest on the father's side of the family. The wild woman or tsonoqua, on the maternal side of the family is a familiar figure in the pageantry of the winter dances. The shape of this design is similar to that of totem poles being carved by Henry Hunt and to that of a pole located in Alert Bay. This is Hunt's seventh published print.
