Artist Statement :
"The Quatsino people have a legend of a 'Great Sea Monster' that was eating everyone who went close to the sea. When the Chief of Chiefs came along and saw what was happening, he used a sisiutl belt to help destroy the sea monster. Our late uncle, Chief James Jumbo Walas, wrote a book called 'Kwagulth Legends.' He recorded and wrote the sea monster legend, as well as many others." - Ross Hunt Sr.
