Artist Statement : The painting is a portrait of Victoria film maker Kemi Craig. In the portrait I wanted to depict her look of focus as though she is at work at her computer. The ear phones are some she would wear when video editing. I sent it to the International Women's Day exhibition organized by Victoria Arts Council in 2013. My idea was to show a woman, particularly a woman of color, at work so in the portrait Kemi is wearing her ear phones which she would use for video editing a film.
