Visual Description :
Ivory colored rectangular chest with drawers has a frieze-like relief carving on top, front face and side faces. Back face covered with green cord material. Mythological motif, humans and animals, interspersed with borders of foliage. Hidden drawer pulls out.
Bone work fitted in manner appropriate to period and type, that is, segmented in a balanced arrangement. Formerly fitted to some object at back and bottom. Rather low grade quality of wood with heavy construction of wood parts consistent with the period. Considered to be an excellent piece of late medieval workmanship.
