Visual Description :
Image of cormorant standing on the ground with wings up-raised and eating a fish. Bull rushes grow in the background and a yellow sun shines behind the cormorant's head. The cormorant is printed in black, red, and grey with white paper showing through, the ground is a pair of black lines, the reeds in green, the sun yellow, and the background is varying shades of turquoise.

Artist Statement :
This design was painted as a companion piece to George's print "Blue Heron", (1986). Both of these prints were produced with shaded backgrounds to impart the impression of sea and sky. The west coast people refer to cormorants as "Ravens of the Sea" which is quite descriptive of these B.C. shore birds. (Statement provided by Open Pacific Graphics)
