Artist Statement : "Back in the mid 70's I would go up to Alert Bay in June to attend potlatches and play soccer. Alert Bay is the home of the very proud Nimpkish people. While walking by the graveyard, I would look at all the beautiful totem poles looking out over the straits. I would imagine that it would be like if I were a bird. It all seemed so beautiful and peaceful. Then reality would set in when I opened the door to the Bayside." - R.H.
