Davidson, Robert ; Guud San Glans

Cultural Group :

Robert Davidson (Haida) was born in 1946 in Hydaburg, Alaska, and spent his formative years first in the Queen Charlotte Islands, then in Vancouver. Talented from an early age, Robert learned carving and design techniques from his father, Claude Davidson, and his grandfather, Robert Davidson Sr., both of whom were accomplished carvers. When Robert became an apprentice to Bill Reid in 1966, his career was firmly established. Robert Davidson is now considered the leading Haida artist. He is internationally renowned for his totem poles, masks, silkscreen prints, jewellery, and bronze sculptures.
Guud San Glans means Eagle of the Dawn and is also the name of his gallery.
