Rod Modeste is a revered artist in the translation of his culture through the sculptural mediums of wood and precious metals such as gold and silver. He was born in Malahat British Columbia and is part of the Malahat Band. The Malahat band is part of the larger Coast Salish community and is located mainly on southeastern end of Vancouver Island. His work has been collected all over the world and is present in both private and public collections. Along with being a prevalent carver and sculptor, Modeste is also a skilled designer producing wonderful screen prints.
The University of Victoria's Art Collection includes five of Modeste's beautiful prints.
