Starr, Terry (b.1951) Cultural Group : Gispax Laats, Tsimshian

Born in 1951 in Prince Rupert, B.C., Terry Starr is a Tsimshian Native of the Eagle Clan. After completing high school he moved to Victoria where he studied business administration for three years at Camosun College. Later he trained as an appraiser of Northwest Coast and North American Indian art through a Victoria gallery. He began carving in 1982, working at Thunderbird Park at the B.C. Provincial Museum with the guidance of Tim Paul and Richard Hunt. Since that time Terry has been living in Vancouver, B.C. Where he works full time at his art work.*
