Visual Description : One west coast ceremonial rattle in an overall group of nine. The main body of the rattle resembles an upside down triangle and is constructed of an unknown animal bone/horn. Both sides of the bone/horn are carved with simple designs: a simple circular ambiguous face surrounded by contour lines and ambiguous circular shapes and the other has five. The designs are presumably coast salish in nature. Affixed around the rattle are approx. 24 large chunky woven and braided wool strands. The handle of the rattle is constructed of wood and is carved in particular, a base has been carved at its bottom (approx. 5.5x4.5cm). The overall condition is fair with some cracking and splitting on the bone and wooden handle and some surface dirt on the wool strands and entire rattle itself.
