Visual Description : One West Coast ceremonial rattle in an overall group of nine. The main body of the rattle resembles an upside down triangle and is constructed of an unknown animal bone/horn. On one side of the bone/horn there is a bird design and on the other side there is a dragon/serpent design with a sun. Both designs have been etched/scratched into the bone/horn and coloured with an unknown red pigment. Both designs are also simple and child-like in appearance. The handle of the rattle is wooden and has circular and square edges, ridges, and rims carved into it. Affixed around the bone of the rattle are approxiamately forty chunky woven and braided strands of wool. The overall condition of the rattle is fair with some cracking and scratches on the horn/bone, some surface dirt on the handle and the wool strands.
