Visual Description :
This Heltsuk bent box is entirely made of wood; however, nails have been used to hold (repair?) the box together. All four sides of the base are painted. The two large sides are entirely covered in black and red paint, in a First Nations-style design. The two smaller ends have only one image or symbol, against the natural colour of the wood. Following tradition, the lid is very plain with no images.
