Visual Description : This is a copy of a Tlingit headdress depicting Raven and the box of daylight. This is a ubiquitious legend of Raven bringing light to the world Materials used include alder, paint, mirrors, copper, and abalone. The colours of the paint are black, green, and red. This headdress is a copy of the original Tlingit headdress, and was commissioned by the owner of the original one. The original Box of Daylight is in the collection of the Seattle Art Museum, Lkaayaak Yeil S'aaxw (Box of Daylight Raven Hat Gaanax'adi Clan c. 1850).
