Visual Description : "Point of Departure" is a large mixed media embroidered tapestry with layers of plain, patched and shiny fabrics. The work depicts a map of southern Vancouver Island, with dark and light blue water and olive and forest green patches signifying the land. An orange carpet with a zigzag design of alternating coloured shiny fabrics appears 'floating' above the map .The entire work is framed with a border of silver material. "Atmosphere" is a similar size netting in blue and white fabric with airplanes and aircrafts collaged onto it amongst clouds and atmospheric forms.
