Artist Statement : "Galuda is the name of a mountain in Kingcome inlet. The seagull who sits upon the mountain is t'sik'waxalis who descended from the mountain into human form. He has around his neck a cedar bark ring. My maternal grandfather's headdress was that of a seagull. He wore this headdress in ceremony to show his connection to the original story of Tsikwaxalis. This painting is an honoring of my grandfather." --Francis Dick
