Artist Statement : "Created while studying at the Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art, 'Northern Spirit' depicts the killer whale painted and designed in the traditional Tlingit style. This is recognized by its simple ovoid and u-forms, creating an unembellished primary form line, which is adorned by a secondary form line and tertiary design. Small, rounded faces like the ones seen here are sometimes present in the works." - Dean Heron
