Artist Statement : "One day a Thunderbird and a man had a dispute over a game of La Hal. The Thunderbird was cheating. This was witnessed by all of the legendary Kwagiulth animals such as the bear, raven and sea monster. So the man, in order to take revenge, built a whale out of wood and covered it with pitch and hiding inside pushed it out to sea. Thunderbird attacked and got stuck to the false whale whereupon the man harpooned the bird." - C.H.
