Artist Statement : "Black Bear is the brother of the Kermode (or Spirit Bear). These two prints were made as a set of brother bears. The style used is new, modern contemporary Coast Salish, but with traditional elements of rounded, flowing design; crisp, clean and simple. The bear is a recognized symbol of crest figures from the ancient Coast Salish designs, such as on carved, bone combs."
