Artist Statement : "Many of my people celebrate New Year in the spring when the birds, animals and fish give birth; also the land gives birth to new plants. These also are our life givers. The sun and the air are represented by the bird, land by the animal and water by the fish. They also have families like us and share their lives with us so we can live. When we eat fish and chips, hamburgers, turkey or chicken we should remember these have had life once, and we should be grateful." - Roy Thomas
