Visual Description :
Long vertical hanging scroll, ink on paper, no colour. See "other data" and "remarks".
This ink monochrome painting is a Literati work that alludes to the great northern sung painting "Travellers in the Mountains" by Fan K'uan. The landscape is built up with dots called "t'ien" and the ink is wet and fluid. The colophon on the right is in grass script and cannot be deciphered. The colophon on the left is in reverse and is a poem praising nature. There is an artist's seal after the signature. Chung-ming was monk active in the 18th century.
