Artist Statement : George has a personal fascination with water fowl which are numerous along the coast of Vancouver Island. He has several designs featuring various coastal birds with each print incorporating more and more realism. This latest - a heron, was originally painted on a drum but George altered the background slightly to create a rectangular field. On the chest of the heron is a human face because the Kwa-giulth believe that all animals have a human inside. (Statement provided by Pacific Editions)
